Each roof is a bespoke design and made from thermally broken aluminium. There are three main styles to choose from including Mediterranean, Victorian and Edwardian. All styles have Victorian styled glazing bars, crest, tie-bars and end caps in cast aluminium. Please see our gallery and designs pages. Roof lanterns up to 1.6m x 3m can usually be supplied pre-made with glass separate - greatly reducing installation time.
Your roof can be any RAL colour of your choice, Polyester powder coated to BS6496. RAL is an industry standard range of around 200 colours, you may also choose our standard white - our most popular colour. Please see our RAL chart for examples. We also offer a marine powder finish, please ask for details.
Our roofing system can be glazed with either 16 or 25mm polycarbonate sheeting, however we recommend 28mm glass sealed units. Glass units dramatically reduce the noise of rain on the roof, plus, high-tech self-cleaning glass such as Pilkington Activ Blue can be specified.
If you are proposing a bi-fold or large patio door under your roof you may like to consider our unique Structural Ring Beam to span the gap. Bi-folds and patios must not have weight pushing down on them - this will cause the doors to bind in operation. Our structural beam is designed to take the loading of the roof and to not push down onto your doors below. The beam is designed to blend in with aluminium windows, doors and of course our roof. It comes colour powder coated to match our roof and bi-folds - meaning you do not need to fit an unsightly RSJ and then clad over. A picture is available here, and a technical sheet is in our Downloads section.
We have recently introduced Reflex Glass to our conservatory roofs; here is a 5 minute video about the glass.

Our roof design is able to withstand wind speeds of 100 mph (tested to CP3 Chapter V Part 2 for wind loadings). Having a strong roof means that it will withstand several inches of snow, or can take maintenance boards to carry out works above the conservatory. The ABD system has been tested to BS6399 by independant structural engineers.
All our roof kits come with on-site personal tuition on first order.

The following is a genuine letter from one of our customers who attributes our roof to saving the life of their nanny and child....
"Last Thursday 18th January we had storms that brought exceptional high winds. These winds were strong enough to rip the cover to our water tank on our roof off sending it hurtling down five stories onto the conservatory roof. At the time my 17 month old son, Angus, was having his nappy changed exactly beneath where it fell. Remarkably the glass roof including the glass itself withstood the impact and, although it damaged the conservatory, it bounced off and landed on our roof terrace. The water tank lid was about 1.5 by 3 metres, covered in lead and extremely heavy. It took two burly professional builders to remove it from the terrace. There is no doubt in my mind that, had the conservatory not been built to the standard it was my little boy and the nanny would have been killed. Since the storm we have had heavy rain and, to my astonishment, the roof has not even leaked."
